Understanding Our Purpose

The School for Esoteric Studies is essentially a group project, an esoteric school with a particular mandate from the Spiritual Hierarchy as we move into the Aquarian age. It was formed out of a compelling belief that the Hierarchy needs workers who are trained in the deeper and more advanced aspects of modern esoteric teaching.

As a result, the School focuses on providing structured, sequenced esoteric discipleship training oriented toward producing World Servers. Our focus is to reach out to and support those engaged in moving beyond discipleship to initiatory growth. This developmental process is an individual one, but we tread the Path together as we move toward group initiation.

Levels of Engagement

An Ashram has in it disciples and initiates at all points of evolutionary development and of all grades and degrees; these all work together in perfect unison… When aspirants, seeking upon the physical plane to find those who will share with them the mystery of [the] next immediate step or demonstrated expansion, discover [their] own group… [they] will be drawn into a vortex of force and a field of service simultaneously. (The Rays and the Initiations, page 346)

A primary form of engagement is, of course, participating in the School’s coursework. Our training sequence has been created, tested, expanded and updated (thanks to the contributions of students) over a period of 60 years. Former students who would like to resume their training at the School, or any others who would like to apply, are most welcome.

Involvement with the School, however, is not conceived of as enrolling in a series of academic or professional courses. Rather, participating in the group project is viewed as a collective engagement at the Soul level for the purpose of contacting spiritual energies and helping them precipitate and anchor on Earth for the furthering of the divine Plan. Some, but not all, of this engagement may be in the form of coursework.

As part of our spiritual group, we invite you to place your engagement in our group work at the center of your energetic attention and life of service, connecting your other involvements back to the School and so intensifying the point of tension from which we can work collectively. When we connect to the group, the spiritual energy at the heart of the School overflows to the service activities in which we are engaged. Here are a number of projects you might want to engage with:

Current Projects

For those of you new to the School, your initial engagement with our group may be through supporting the School in meditation and in your dedication to your own training.

As you progress in your studies and your awareness of the Plan, consider other ways that you can become more involved. Perhaps you have a particular skill that you would like to volunteer. Perhaps you would like to contribute an article or, if you are part of another group, you may want to develop an intergroup project. Perhaps you would like to serve on a Board committee or on the Board of Directors.

Our yearly Subjective Group Conference is another important approach to group service. It telepathically unites spiritual workers around the world in meditation, study and service to focus on a particular aspect of the Plan for three months during the Three Linked Festivals (the full moons of Aries, Taurus, and Gemini).

The School’s Facebook page is an educational endeavor to reach out to the larger community through the use of social media. Please “like” us on Facebook and interact with our online community.

Our quarterly eNews is a newsletter with a special focus: strengthening the work of the New Group of World Servers. Please read our latest issues and feel free to participate. We welcome written contributions, suggestions, and insights from your other involvements in any of the newsletter sections: outreach@esotericstudies.net.

The School’s multilingual website offers a wide range of materials, visuals, and meditation work that can help you deepen your spiritual practice. If you are fluent in one of the languages we serve, perhaps you may want to assist with the translation of materials.

We also send out Great Invocation bookmarks and leaflets in multiple languages, as well as providing other inspirational materials. Please consider helping with their distribution in your community.

To move forward as a group in the work designated for us by the Hierarchy, we need the energetic contribution of every group member.
